I returned to Nainital after 3 decades to welcoming new faces at SEM and the warm embraces of retired teachers in 'town'. Strolling around the familiar environs of SEM where nobody recognized me was an experience. I took some photographs before running out on batteries. I found Mr Shah (of 'Exit Card' fame) at the Office, 3 kitchen staff & a Wash Room attendant of our times. Among those remaining - Br Walsh (Drama & Music) is in Goethals's, Kurseong; Mr Chandra (Hindi) is in Dehradun; Mr & Mrs Medley and Mr & Mrs Tahir run schools at Nainital; but I could meet Mr Pyare Lal Shah (Chemistry & Maths) and Mr S C Shah (Biology) - 'Zincy' as we knew him. It was like a long lost son's homecoming. For those alumni who have not been in touch with SEM for as long, these pics would evoke nostalgia. Not much has changed since the time we passed out ICSE in 1977. But the most visible changes - in school & in 'town' - are caught on camera.
